Mentaiko (Spicy Pollock Roe)
Mentaiko (Spicy Pollock Roe)
Unless you’ve visited Japan, you’ve probably never tried Mentaiko. Spicy Pollock Roe, also known as Mentaiko, are typically only available in seafood markets in Japan. However, Oceanside Seafood is incredibly excited to bring this delicacy to the United States.
We source our Mentaiko from Japan, and each package contains five ounces, or 145g, of Mentaiko, contained in three or four egg sacs. The taste of Mentaiko is flavorful and spicy, and it is often served grilled or broiled with steamed rice. For the more adventurous chefs, try Mentaiko spaghetti, use it as a topping for Ramen or Ochazuke, or enjoy it as a filling inside rice balls.
